Dual-room system for a consumer packaged goods company. Multi-camera focus room paired with an observation room for real-time consumer research and product development feedback.
A major consumer packaged goods company needed a focus room environment for observing and recording consumer interactions with product packaging. The design involved two interconnected spaces: a focus room where consumers interact with products, and an observation room where researchers monitor sessions in real time.
Multiple Vaddio PTZ cameras provide flexible angles throughout the focus room, controlled via joystick from the observation room. Shure microphones capture all participant audio, routed through Biamp Tesira DSP. Barco ClickShare enables wireless content sharing during debrief sessions. Crestron control ties the entire system together with custom programming for camera presets, recording controls, and display management. Technology specifications include Crestron, Vaddio, Extron, QSC, Lenovo, LG, Biamp, Middle Atlantic, Netgear, Barco, and Shure.
Packaging designers use the captured consumer interactions to refine designs for Fortune 500 brand products. The concepts developed in this room apply to similar spaces such as moot court rooms and teaching labs.
Multi-phase technology deployment for a regional bank's new headquarters. Included a proof-of-concept phase, phased construction alignment, and full buildout of conference, training, and executive spaces.
A regional bank undertook a complete headquarters remodel, transitioning from basic presentation technology to a modern unified communications environment. The project required a multi-phased delivery model to align with construction scheduling and budget validation.
Phase 1 involved design and consulting, bringing together executive management, IT, operations, and the project architect for a complete discovery process. Phase 2 delivered a proof of concept room at a nearby location for the bank to evaluate before committing to full deployment. Phase 3 executed the build across all conference, training, and executive spaces. Each room was designed with the bank's collaboration requirements in mind, supporting Zoom Rooms, hybrid meetings, and in-room presentation.
The phased approach gave the bank confidence in the technology investment, validated the budget before construction, and delivered a headquarters where every meeting space supports modern hybrid collaboration. The customized delivery model became a reference for future client engagements.

Enterprise-scale network infrastructure supporting one of Connecticut's largest annual fairs. 80+ managed switches, mesh wireless, fiber backbone, and VLAN segmentation serving 300,000+ attendees over a 10-day event.
As Assistant Superintendent of Technology for the Berlin Lions Club, I designed and deployed an enterprise-scale network infrastructure supporting mission-critical operations for one of Connecticut's largest annual fairs, serving 300,000+ attendees over a 10-day run.
The network spans multiple buildings connected via multimode and single-mode fiber optic backbone. Over 80 managed switches provide wired connectivity for point-of-sale terminals, ticketing systems, vendor operations, and administrative functions. VLAN segmentation isolates traffic between operational systems, public WiFi, and management networks. A centrally managed mesh wireless network provides coverage across the entire fairgrounds. Redundancy measures ensure failover for mission-critical systems like ticketing and registration.
The temporary nature of the event requires rapid deployment and teardown each year while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability. Outdoor environmental factors including weather, power fluctuations, and physical security all required engineering around. The network must handle massive concurrent user counts during peak hours while keeping operational systems responsive.
The infrastructure achieves 99% uptime during the 10-day event, supporting ticketing, registration, vendor payments, live streaming, and public WiFi. The network has been refined annually, with each iteration improving reliability and capacity.
IoT project that turns a Raspberry Pi into an AirPlay receiver with automatic GPIO relay control. Detects audio streaming and triggers amplifier power via relay with configurable delay.
Built a Dockerized IoT application that turns a Raspberry Pi into an AirPlay audio receiver with automatic amplifier power management. When an Apple device starts streaming audio, the system detects the AirPlay session and triggers a GPIO relay to power on connected amplifiers. When streaming stops, a configurable delay timer powers the amplifiers off automatically.
The system uses shairport-sync (v4.3.2) for AirPlay reception with ALSA audio output and SoX resampling for high-quality playback. A metadata pipe monitors playback state changes (pbeg/pend events) and a custom Bash script manages GPIO relay switching with debounce logic. The entire stack runs in a Docker container on BalenaOS, supporting Raspberry Pi 3 and 4 hardware. Configuration is fully environment-variable driven for GPIO pin assignment, active state polarity, turn-off delay, AirPlay device name, volume control, and audio backend selection.
Eliminates the need to manually power amplifiers on and off in a whole-home or distributed audio setup. The relay controller acts as a bridge between consumer AirPlay devices and professional/consumer amplifier hardware.
